IRON WORKERS LOCAL 625 ENCOURAGES
MAYOR HANNENMANN TO CONSIDER HIGHER OFFICE

HONOLULU – Today, representatives of the Iron Workers local 625—which comprises more than 1,000 members statewide, met with Mayor Mufi Hannemann to encourage him to run for higher office.    

The enthusiastic support of the Ironworkers was based on his considerable experience in making critical decisions during service in state and city government, along with his proven track record of completing projects on time and under budget and addressing urgent issues. 

“Mufi has dedicated to his life to public service, served honestly, and in our opinion is the only leader we have that can step up to the challenges Hawaii is facing right now,” said Joseph O’Donnell, Business Manager for the Iron Workers Local 625.  “Mufi is a proven executive and leader who can deliver the State of Hawaii from the current economic recession. We sincerely hope he decides to run for higher office and we would endorse his efforts in that regard.”

“While I am still in the process of finalizing my decision on running for governor this year, the endorsement I received today from the hard-working men and women of this union will certainly be a positive influence and factor in that decision,” said Mayor Hannemann.  “I am extremely grateful for the words of encouragement and enthusiastic support I received today.  This is another example of the growing momentum that I’m receiving statewide for a gubernatorial bid in 2010.”
